The following includes several examples of suggested bequest language to benefit Jacksonville University.
Each individual situation is unique and, therefore, these examples include only some of the possible gift opportunities. Dollar amounts, percentages and restricted uses should be adjusted to accomplish your gift plan. To Jacksonville University for Unrestricted Purposes:
Cash Bequest
"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath the sum of $___________to Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL for its unrestricted use and purpose."
Percentage Bequest
"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath ____% of the rest, residue, and remainder of property owned at my death, whether real or personal, and wherever located, to Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL for its unrestricted use and purpose."
Contingent Bequest
"If my brother John Doe survives me, I hereby give, devise, and bequeath ____% of the rest, residue, and remainder of property owned at my death, whether real or personal, and wherever located, to John Doe. If John Doe does not survive me, then I give, devise, and bequeath ____% of my residuary estate, whether real or personal, and wherever located, to Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL for its unrestricted use and purpose."
To Jacksonville University for Restricted Purposes:
Cash Bequest
"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath the sum of $_________to Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL to be used for ________. It is understood and agreed that should the purpose for which this bequest is instituted cease to exist, then Jacksonville University may devote said bequest for such other uses and purposes as it determines to be in accordance with my original intent in making this gift."
