Bob Shircliff

Bob Shircliff

The impact Robert T. "Bob" Shircliff made on Jacksonville University is ingrained into the institution he adopted as one of his own.

"Bob was the rarest of global business executives, true philanthropists and visionary community stewards," said Jacksonville University President Tim Cost '81. "His warm association with our university spanned nearly 50 years."

Mr. Shircliff didn't put all of his charitable intentions in one basket but rather chose to support many worthy causes around the city of Jacksonville. Jacksonville University counts itself fortunate to be one of many organizations to benefit from his thoughtfulness. For decades, Mr. Shircliff helped shape success at the University as a member and Chair of the University's Board of Trustees and most recently a member of the Public Policy Institute Board of Advisors.

Mr. Shircliff often contributed his own money to help the University grow both physically and academically. His support helped maintain Shircliff Hall at the Village Apartments and name the Shircliff Conference Room in the Brooks Rehabilitation Center of Health Care Sciences.

Mr. Shircliff also made the University the beneficiary of his Charitable Remainder Trust, which will be managed on the University's behalf by The Community Foundation of Jacksonville. He has defined his legacy at Jacksonville University by remembering us in his estate plan!

The University celebrates and memorializes Mr. Shircliff's fund-raising efforts and almost 40 years of annual financial support of the University with our Shircliff Circle annual giving society, the University's largest giving society. The Shircliff Circle honors the individuals, corporations and foundations who make gifts to Jacksonville University for three or more consecutive years. Their consistent support of the University advances our mission to prepare our students for lifelong success in learning, achieving, leading and serving.
